简论英汉成语文化差异角度上的意译对策

成语是一个社会语言文化的重要组成部分,是一个民族对生活、对人生不断探索与长期思考后沉积下来的结晶,它能通过形象的比喻或简洁的形式表达精辟的意义。在英汉双语中无论在口头交际还是在书面表达,成语运用的数量在增长,质量也在不断提高。英汉双语成语存在一定相似性,但由于英汉两种文化背景的差异,英汉成语的使用又迥然不同。针对以上问题,文章旨在探讨英汉文化差异上的一些成语的意译对策。

Idiom is one of the most important components of social language and culture. It＇s a national＇s crystallization toward Human life and livelihood precipitated through constantly long-time probing and thinking. It can well express the penetrating meaning through the metaphor of the image and succinct form. So, the studying and researching the generality and divergence of the culture has a great significance for modem translation. However, the understanding and use of idioms is not an easy thing. Especially in contrast to conditions in a bilingual, English and Chinese cultural differences affect the idioms used by the analogy method. To solve these problems, this paper aims to explore the cultural differences between Chinese and English idioms of translation strategies.
