The main idea of Romance for the Annals of Three Kingdoms is to describe wars. But on the basis of historical facts, its author gave it a lot of contents about music maneuver with his own musical talents. These poetic paragraphs in the whole novel give full play to their narrative functions, such as telling story in advance ; setting characters off by contrast; promoting plots and making narra- tive more reasonable. Thus, they can join the story and strengthen the frame. Meanwhile, the novel has aesthetic effects through having these paragraphs. It can make firm and mild, intense and loose in harmony.
