An Interpretation of the Ideal Female Image in Tang Legendary and Its Cultural Connotation

唐传奇是文言小说的成熟阶段,题材甚多,而以婚恋传奇的成就最高。在婚恋传奇中,唐代文士构筑出一批符合他们爱情期待的理想女性:这些女性容貌出众、才华卓越,大胆跨越礼教的藩篱追求爱情,极富"名妓"的特征;同时又是恪守礼教规范,柔顺卑顺、相夫教子、持家理财的典型贤妻良母。这种融情人、知己、贤妻、良母为一体的理想女性形象,其实是唐代文人在特定文化氛围中对女性的期待和建构,也是唐代文士追求情理和谐统一的婚恋心理的曲折诉求。

Tang legends which include rich subject matter are the mature stage of classical Chinese novels.And the love and marriage novels is the highest achievement of Tang legends.In the Tang legendary marriages,the scholars create many female images in accordance with their expectation of love.These female images have beautiful appearance,outstanding artistic talent and courage to break the binding of Confucian ritual;meanwhile,they are also good wives and mothers that abide by Confucian ritual.This ideal female image combines the images of lover,bosom friend,good wife and good mother which embody the scholars’dual expectation to female and their love and marriage mentality in pursuing the harmony of emotion.
