Objective To observe the effects of etomidate fractional injection or an injection in first electroconvulsive therapy in adolescents. Methods 140 cases of adolescent patients were randomly divided into study group(n=70) and control group(n=70).In study group, patients received fractional injection in MECT.But in control group, patients received an injection in MECT.All the subjects were evaluated with the first attack, tetany index, mean arterial blood pressure, the time of breathing and consciousness recovery and related adverse reaction occurred during the treatment. Results The time of first attack was(75.46±26.45)s in study group,it was lower than that in control group(P0.05).The incidences of agitated delirium, severe headache, high fever in study group was significantly lower than in control group. Conclusion Etomidate fractional injection is a safety and effective method in first MECT in adolescents.
