Shang Dai Du Yi (Capital Cities in Shang Dynasty) is a work on the history of the evolution of the capital cities of the Shang Dynasty with the most complete data, the most detailed diseussion and the most meticulous system seen to date and independent opinions and plain study style. The publishing of this work is an important academic achievement of the archaeological and historic studies on the Shang Dynasty. The author fully utilized the advantage of the organic integration of archaeology and history, broke the barrier between the archaeologists and historians, handled the temporal and spatial frames of the historic studies, trimmed the myriad and scattered archaeological materials into tidy data through constructing the chronological and typological systems of the Shang Culture. The author is good at using the research results of the archaeologists, but this using is not accepting uncritically but with careful analyses, independent evaluations and innovations.
