摘要
The 11th Games of Guangdong Province will be held in Shenzhen in 2002. To greet the games, the Shenzhen municipal government has decided to make an investment of 350 million yuan to build the swimming and diving halls. The site is in the former municipal sports center in Futian District, Shenzhen. The center is a piece of triangular land, already consisting of a gymnasium, a sports field and a building of comprehensive use. The new swimming and diving complex will occupy an area of 57000 sq. m. The total planned floor space will be 40000 sq. m., divided among the two halls, a pre competition training area and an exercise area for the masses. The grandstand will have 4500 seats. Only seven companies were invited to take part in the tender. They are Cox Richardson Architects and Planners, Australia; Obermeyer Planer and Weidleplan Consulting, Germany; LHP Designing, USA; Bligh Voller Nield Sport, Australia; Pell Frischmann Group Ltd., England and Deng Jiafa Consulting Co., Ltd. and Pan China Engineering Co., Ltd., Hong Kong; Frederic Rolland International, France; and Huasen Architecture and Engineer Designing Consulting Co., Ltd., China. The tender was made public on Oct. 9 and tenders were collected on Dec. 18. Assessment was carried on from Dec. 19 21. The assessing committee is composed of seven famous Chinese and foreign architects. After the assessment, schemes No.7 and No.1 were adopted and recommended to the proprietor. The scheme No.7 was submitted by the Cox Richardson Architects and Planners of Australia and the No.1 by the Obermeyer Planen and Weidleplan Consulting of Germany. The two schemes received unanimous approval of the members of the committee, owing to the following outstanding aspects: respecting the actual environment, comprehension of the constructions for sports and swimming, designing conception, applying new architectural technologies, and good results of the schemes.
