The hybridity of the authoring environment and the multiplicity of Virginia Woolf's identity determine Woolf's concerns about the national identity similar to that of the postcolonial writers. While launching a cultural reconstruction of the disintegrated English imperial identity,Woolf nonetheless rewrites the national narrative based on male chauvinism and colonialism.Woolf's class and race identity preset the inner correlation between her feminism and the imperialist ideology, therefore disempowering her critique of the imperialist national identity.Consequently,Woolf's feminism takes on the form of a female imperialism featuring both a resistance to and a collaboration with imperialism.
