A feminist criticism on Nineteen Eighty Four

英国现代作家乔治·奥威尔的代表作《一九八四》被公认为是一部"反乌托邦"小说,其意义重大,影响深远。然而细观其文中女性人物的艺术形象却不免苍白和单薄,因为奥威尔强加给了她们传统家庭妇女的身份特征。试图从马克思主义女性主义和精神分析女性主义两个方面来阐述《一九八四》中体现出来的"性别等级"和女性的"他者"地位。

Modern British writer George Orwell＇s masterpiece Nineteen Eighty Four is recognized as a ＂dystopian novel＂ by critics,which has a significant and far-reaching effect.But if you examine female characters carefully you will find them artistically pale and thin because Orwell imposes the traditional woman identity on them.This novel is undoubtedly harmful from the feminist perspective.Therefore,in the Nineteen Eighty Four,＂sexual rank＂ and women＇s ＂otherness＂ status will be illustrated from the perspective of Marxist feminism and psychoanalytic feminism.
