值荷兰汉学家高罗佩百岁纪念之际,作者研究其琴学研究成果《琴道》,认为高罗佩不以西方音乐理论来合理化中国的琴学传统,而以明代文人生活的整体品味体来衬托琴,为西方读者建构了以琴为中心的明代文人生活想象。
The essay tackles van Gulik's The Lore of Chinese Lute,leading to the conclusion that Gulik constructed for Western readership an imagination of the Chinese literati's life around qin in the Ming Dynasty,in which the instrument is set off by the collective taste in that life.
