The paper analyses Geoffrey Leech＇s polite principle.Through the analysis of address forms in The Story of the Stone,it expounds the importance of polite principle in the verbal communication,points out that address forms between Yuanchun and Jia Zheng may not be reflected in the polite principle,finds that the usuage of address forms is dynamic and is determined by pragmatic distance.
