A Cultural Reading of Contemporary American Jewish Literature

犹太民族是一个饱经沧桑的民族。美国犹太作家在以自己的民族为主题进行创作时 ,始终关心着如何缅怀过去 ,正视现在和展望未来。膨胀同时又压抑在犹太民族胸中的犹太传统文化像一种神秘而又巨大的背景力量存在于所有的美国犹太文学作品之中。本文拟从犹太文化的角度 ,对美国犹太文学作品 ,特别是美国现当代犹太作家的作品进行解读 。

The Jewish people are a people who have experienced many vicissitudes of life in history.The American Jewish writers have been always concernied about how to cherish the memory of the past and face the present when they write with the themes about the history of the people.The Jewish traditional culture ,which is gushed out and constrained at the same time in the hearts of the Jewish people,is just like a mysterious and huge force existing in all of the Jewish writer's works. This essay is trying to make a cultural reading of American Jewish literature,especially modern and contemporary novels so as to attain a comparatively objective understanding of the literature.
