The Zen master Muchen Daomin of the late Ming Dynasty was a Confucian scholar who addicted himself in loyalty and filial piety before he became a monk. This personality effected his contribution to the Zen Buddhism and the later generations' evaluation about him. This situation reflected the exact meaning of loyalty and filial piety of the Lin Clan of Dapu County, also showed the limited of "Zen's Renaissance" which meaned the combination of the Confucian and Buddhism at the turn of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
