An Overview of Issues Facing Chinese Mainland Students in Taiwan

大陆学生赴台湾攻读学位,是两岸开放交流发展的必然结果,必将大大推动两岸文教交流,促进两岸关系和平发展。但台湾当局针对大陆学生的某些歧视性政策以及两岸政治、社会制度的不同将在一定程度上给赴台陆生造成困扰。两岸应携手应对、妥善处理陆生赴台可能衍生的各种问题,维护和推动两岸关系和平发展的大局。

The phenomenon for Chinese Mainland students to go to Taiwan to pursue university degrees is the inevitable consequence of the liberalization of exchange between the two sides.Mainland students studying in Taiwan is part of a growing trend towards greater exchange,cooperation and development that will inevitably boost cross-strait cultural and educational exchange thereby promoting the development of peaceful relations between the two sides.Discriminatory policies and regulations of the local Taiwan Residents authorities towards mainland students and differences in the social and educational environments can,to some degree,cause problems for Mainland students.In response,both sides need to reach out to find appropriate solutions to the various problems facing mainland students in Taiwan and in doing so to protect and promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relationships.
