留学生群体在近代以来中国民族国家的构建中起到了重要作用:他们挖掘使用"中华民族"这一族称,为近代中国民族国家找到了重要的认同符号;他们创办报刊,翻译西书,宣传民族主义,为民族国家的建立提供了精神动力;他们以西方新型的政治文化观为思想武器,不懈地致力于近代中国的宪政运动;他们同时也是构建民族国家的主要参与者和领导者。他们通过自身的努力使中华民族真正凝聚成为一个生死与共的命运共同体。

Chinese students studied and studying abroad play an important role in the establishment of Chinese national state in modern history.They found out the identification symbol of modern Chinese national state from the name of the Chinese nation.They took many ways including running newspapers and magazines,translating western books and spreading nationalism theory in order to provide spiritual power for the establishment of modern Chinese national state.They constantly participated in the movement for the constituting government by the western thought of new political culture theory.Lastly,they were also the important leaders and participants in modern Chinese national state.By hard fighting,they made the Chinese nation become a real leaving community.
