大学英语翻译中“句子冗长”问题探析

Translation Syndrome in College English Textbooks Viewed from the Perspective of “Redundancy”

句子冗长是英译汉时常见的问题。有些句子不仅冗长,还伴随一定程度的语病;另有些句子虽然表面没有语病,但不符合汉语造句习惯。归根到底,句子冗长是一种翻译症,不利于教学规范,应引起广大英语工作者的重视。本文从汉语语法和语言习惯的角度出发,对这些冗长的句子进行分析和改正,希望能给广大英语教育工作者一些启示。

Redundancy is a common phenomenon in English-Chinese translation. Some Chinese sentences are not only loong, but also accompanied by kind of grammatical mistakes; others have no apparent mislakes, but they are not in accordance with the rules for making Chinese sentenees. Redundancy, which is a form of translation syndrome in nature, may do harm to Chinese norm and should be taken seriously by English educators.
