徘徊于师古与从今之间——祝允明的古文观

Wandering between "Shi Gu" and "Cong Jin"——Zhu Yunming's opinion about ancient essays

祝允明散文中常常出现"古"与"今"的比对,"师古"还是"从今",是其散文论述的核心命题之一。少年游学、奔波功名期间,他力倡复古纳今,对古文与时文之精华广纳博取、兼收并蓄。宦海沉浮、罢试就选后,他厚古薄今,称"时言不足重"。这种徘徊于"师古"与"从今"之间的颇具矛盾性的观点,从根本上体现的是祝允明"调和古今、平衡两端"的心态。

In Zhu Yunming~ essays, ＂ancient＂ and ＂modern＂ are often compared; either ＂learning something from the ancient＂ or ＂following the main trend in modern times＂ is one of the core themes in his discussion. In his teenage days, he studied around, chasing for scholar honor and fame, and embraced to revert to old ways and introduce the best at that time. Through ups and downs in official seas, he formed his own views, stressing the past more than the present, and held ＂current opinions hardly deserve attaching importance＂. This conflicting points of view wandering between ＂shi gu＂ and ＂cong jin＂ essentially represented his mind of state, ＂conciliating the ancient and the present, balancing the two Dolars＂.
