From the functional aspect, the paper researches the underground space at urban squares, classifies the developing types of the underground space at square into the functional harmonic type, the functional enhancement, and the functional complement by analyzing some factual engineering cases, and indicates the three aspects respectively, so as to lay the foundation for the developing research on urban underground space.
