The ruins of "Tiger Stand" (It is also called "Dianjiang Stand", a high terraced--stand on which generals inspected the army and gave Commands to the officers) is a landmark of Xining, the ancient city. Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, many scholars believed that King Tuofanutanzi of Southern Liang (his first name is Tiger Stand) had had it constructed. By means of field trips and studying the historical documents of the He,huang Regions from an anthropological viewpoint, this paper concludes that "Tiger Stand" in Xining was acturally the site of a public "Sacrifice Altar" during Han to Weijin Period instead of a military defence works.
