Founded two years ago, the extremely lowprofile company Shanghai Yek Mobile is the invisible winner in the mobile retail service market-the APPs of various famous online and offline retail brands are maintained by Yek Mobile. Last year, Yek Mobile won several orders from top 30 e-commerce companies in China whose annual sales volume exceeding RMB5 billion (USD791 million), and this year it has nearly 50 new clients in contact. Zhang Zhijian, CEO of Yek Mobile, also believes that 'the spring of mobile retail is coming'. A research rom the consulting company Upperplus shows that Internet shopping users via mobile phones have increased from 12.58% in the fourth quarter last year to 20.42% in the first quarter this year. Major e-commerce players in China are trying hard to take the lead. However, according to the research of Flurry Analytics, 85% of mobile users would remove an application from their mobile phones within one month. Recent data from e-commerce website Taobao show that the average online time on mobile shopping APPs is even less than 10 minutes. Such situation means more challenges for the starting-up e-commerce companies. Perhaps it is time to consider how to activate the e-commerce APPs.
