摘要
多媒体同步是分布式多媒体应用中的一个重要问题。本文针对多媒体会议系统提出了一种通信带宽控制算法 ,它利用 RTP协议机制对网络带宽进行调节和控制。实验表明 ,该算法明显地改善了多媒体信息的传输质量。
Network bandwidth fluctuation may cause transmission delay, jitter, and lost packets in the process of multimedia communication, resulting in unstable quality of presentation (QoP) of multimedia information. We overcome this problem by an effective end to end synchronization control algorithm which is based on real time transport protocol (RTP) to guarantee the stability of QoP. In section 3, we described the algorithm in detail. Our algorithm includes a sender controller and a receiver controller. The receiver controller makes use of RTP head information to achieve the synchronization of multimedia stream. The sender controller evaluates the current quality of network transport by the RTP control packets sent by receivers periodically. Then it adjusts its data rate with an adaptive control algorithm according to the evaluation, thus realizing the adaptive control of network bandwidth. Our algorithm has been implemented in a multimedia conference system. Experimental results ( Figs.2 and 3) show that our algorithm can effectively improve the quality of network transmission, and ensure the stability of QoP.
