The occipital artery was studied in 17 (34 sides) adult cadavers, The chief results are as follows: 1, The average length of the occipital artery between the occipital groove and the point of piercing the deep fiascia is 6.64± 0,19cm, 2, The average diameter of the occipital artery in the occipital gro- ove is 2.79±0.08mm, The average diameter of the occipital artery in the po- int of piercing the deep fascia is 2.05±0.06mm, 3, The average diameter of the vertebral artery in the part between the foramen transversarium of the first cervical vertebra and the second cervical vertebra is 3.99±0.10mm, The average diameter of the occipital artery in the point of piercing the posterior atlanto-occipital membrane is 3.72± 0.12mm, 4. The average distance between the occipital groove and the part of the foramen transversarium of the first cervical vertebra and the second cervical vertebra is 2.85±0.09cm, The aver- age distance between the occipital groove and the point of piercing the pos- terior atlanto-occipital membrane is 1.96±0.08cm.
