Example sentences are the most ef- ficient way of revealing the meaning and usage of words, and have multiple functions like giving prop- er definitions, syntactic and pragmatic functions, and conveying cultural information. Such dictionary aims to give example sentences for learners to imitate before generating new sentences. Principles of selecting such examples include the comprehensiveness of information, the simplicity of language and discourse, the proper context, content, function, and orientation.
