文学作品中方言的另类功能及其翻译——以鲁迅小说为例

The Functions and Translation of Dialects in Literary Works:With Lu Xun's Novels as an Example

在方言翻译研究中,很多学者认为方言主要用于确立地理背景和反映人物社会地位。文章尝试以鲁迅作品中的绍兴方言英译为例,考察另外两种常常为人们忽视的方言使用情况,即精心锤炼的方言表达方式和无意识流露的方言词汇。笔者认为前者是作家精心推敲有意为之,是作家文风的重要组成部分,这些方言含义微妙丰富,在翻译时既要考虑语义,更应重视语体,保留原语的生动形象性;后者是作家成长背景使然,亦属无心之举,既然无法做到完全对译,不如退而求其次,用译者序言或加注解释说明,让读者明白其中差异所在。

Though it is accepted by most experts that dialects are used to distinguish regional background and reflect characters＇ social position in literary example, identifies the other two types of dialect and the other used unintentionally. The former works, this article, taking Lu Xun＇s novels as an expressions, 6ne employed carefully and deliberately with delicate meaning need to be translated both semantically and stylistically in order to preserve the vivid images; the latter, influenced by writers＇ growing background, will be better to be explained in translator＇s preface or connotation rather than be rendered dialect for dialect.
