The Course and Influence of Tianjing Affair

轰轰烈烈的太平天国运动，是中国旧式农民运动的最高峰，其经过声势浩大、波澜壮阔，但最终没能摆脱失败的结局，究其原因，天京事变使广大农民的思想发生动摇，对革命前途产生了怀疑；使革命力量极大受损，并失去了一个坚强有力的领导核心，太平天国不得不从战略进攻转入战略防御。

Taiping Tianguo Movement was at the top of Chinese old peasants movements. Although it was in a large scale, it could never avoid failure. There are many reasons for this. After Tianjing Affair, the soilders＇ belief began to shake. They became puzzled to the revolutionary future. So it lessened the revolutionary power. At the same time they lost the powerful leadship, and had to take defence intead of attack in the war.
