Reaching the Same End by Different Means:The Radical Cultural View and the Conservative Cultural View in the 1930's

《独立评论》与《再生》的文化主张代表了当时激进与保守文化主张的两端。前者强调西方文化的引进,后者倡导发展中国的传统文化。两种文化主张看似隔膜,实存相互会通之处,都是力图在世界文化一体化的格局中,创造出一个既具民族特色又富世界意味的真正的"中国本位"的文化,彰显了知识分子的民族主义情怀,代表了一种成熟、开放的文化心态。

The cultural view of The Independent Review is radical while the cultural view of The National Rebirth is conservative.The former emphasizes western culture＇s bringing in and the Chinese culture＇s developing by itself while the latter advocates developing Chinese culture.Though these two views are different,they have something essentially in common,that is both of them want to create a real culture with national and global characteristics based on Chinese standard in the integrated world culture.
