Elementary Chinese, which is a Chinese ancient enlightenment textbook, combines the teaching of literacy, knowledge, morality and approaches. Therefore it embodies the perfect unity of instrument and humanity. The teaching principles followed by Elementary Chinese are reasonable and the humanity thoughts inherited by it fit the historical main stream. Though Elementary Chinese was composed in ancient time, its composing concept and value can still provide plenty of nutrition and references to the reform and composing of Chinese textbooks for contemporary primary schools.
