Schweitzer's Studies of Goethe's Ethical Thoughts

歌德作为"最伟大的德国人"具有深刻的伦理思想。施韦泽从"人要高贵、乐于助人和善良"、"倾心于自然神秘的独特生命"、"不以正义为代价去做有能力做到的事情"、"在实际行动和精神创造的并存中实现人格的统一"四个方面,对以"将生存目标定位为人性的圆满"为核心的歌德伦理思想的研究,不仅对于我们理解歌德和施韦泽的伦理思想,而且对于当代中国社会的道德建设,都具有重要的启示意义。

Goethe, ＂the greatest German＂, had profound ethical thoughts. Schweitzer＇ s studies of Goethe＇ s ethical thoughts were made from the following four aspects： man should be noble, and do good for the sheer love of goodness; man should enjoy exploring the mysterious and unique life of nature; man cannot do things he has abilities to do at the expense of jus- tice ; man should achieve the unity of personality in both actual action and spiritual creation. Schweitzer held that the core of Goe- the＇ s ethical thoughts was that man should strive for true humanity, which is not only helpful for us to understand Goethe＇ s and Schweitzer＇ s ethical thoughts, but also enlightening to the moral construction of modem Chinese society.
