Reading is an actively cognitive process. Deep reading focuses on author' s information, idea and arguments and argument structure, including inferential and deductive reasoning, analogical skills, critical analysis, reflection, and insight. The whole process applies higher level cognitive skills like analysis, synthesis, problem solving and metacognition etc. Deep reading is a creative process because it promotes the reader to negotiate meaning with the author so as to create new meaning. It is beneficial to students' improvement of critical reading and independently analytical ability.
