Research on Chinese Confucianism Resources about Irving Babbitt's Humanism

白璧德是美国19世纪末20世纪初著名的文学批评家、人文主义思想家,一生致力于对其所生活的年代(1865—1933)的美国社会甚至整个西方的批判,倡导一种具有中庸品德的人文主义精神。白璧德的人文主义思想深受孔子及其儒家思想的影响,基于这一方面展开白璧德与中国儒家思想之间的关系研究,从而返观我国传统文化的价值。

Irving Babbitt is American famous literary critic and humanist thinkers in the late 19th and early 20th century. Babbitt de- votes himself to all sorts of criticism to American and even the whole western country. He advocated humanism that has the characteris- tic of the doctrine of the mean Confusion. Babbitt＇ s humanism is greatly influenced by Confucius and Confucianism. This paper makes a research on relationship between Babbitt and Chinese Confucianism based on the above background, which have a returns to show our values on traditional culture.
