"我不在那儿"是保罗·奥斯特之代表作《纽约三部曲》的身份诗学命题。"我",即个体的人。"那儿","我"所渴望、追寻的栖息地,人的本真缘在之处。"不在",人与其本真缘在永远隔绝的一种标识。这句话意在指出,"那儿"是一个变动不居之地,不论"我"走向何方、去哪里,它都将不断地从"我"的身边逃离,最终,"我"成为一个无尽漂泊、始终返归的西绪福斯——我在的地方不属于我,属于我的地方我没在。本文试从相似、偶然、延异、追寻悖谬四方面对这一命题进行分析,并进一步揭示奥斯特对人类生存于世之常态与本质的理解。
'I'm not there' is the identity poetry theme of Paul Auster's The New York Trilogy. 'I' , a metaphor of an individual. 'There' , the place that I want to go, the area of man's real Dasein. 'Not' , a sign which represents the separation of man and his real Dasein. As a very short sentence, this statement maintains that I am not there I am, or I am there I am not, because 'there' is always a changeable place, no matter how I go, go whatever place, I can't arrive 'there' in the end. In a word, I am a continuous wandering and still returning Sisyphus. This article analyzes the theme in terms of similarity, contingency, differance and the paradox of searching, and then shows the nature of man's life for Auster.
