《庄河县志》记载：“剪纸艺术，很早即流传于民间广大妇女中。每逢喜庆和节日，即用一把剪刀，几张红纸，便能剪出各种花草、动物、喜字或人物故事。
As recorded in Zhuanghe County Annals： ＂Before celebration and festivals, the people in Zhuanghe always cut out a variety of flowers, plants, animals, Xi character （double happiness） or figures by using a pair of scissors and a few pieces of red paper, and paste them to the windows or walls as the ornaments. ＂
