William Friedkin just took a whole new production of Les contes d'Hoffmann to Vienna,seemingly having thrown the elements of an extravagant cocktail into a shaker, resulting in a long drink.Indeed, it was an exceedingly long mix,lasting three-and-a-half hours with one interval.Considering the lineup,the result was surprisingly modest.
