" I",the narrator in Rebecca, is apparently plain and dull, but actually thought-provoking. After Maxim de Winter, a billionaire, seems to fall in love with "1", "1" successfully becomes Mrs. de Winter, an angel in his house. When Maxim' s murder of Rebecca is on the verge of exposure, "I" willingly acts as her husband ' s accomplice by abusing her discourse, and finally turns into a puppet in the male - centered sociely. Spiritually, "1" has internalized male- centered morality and value; physically, "I", without any income, totally depends on her husband when living in Manderley, her husband' s house. What "I" narrates in the story is inevitably prejudiced, the reliability of the narration being doubtful.
