摘要
语言习得离不开文化背景,委婉语是构成文化的要素,它既是语言的表象也是文化的外像,由于中、西方在传统文化、道德观念、价值取向等方面有诸多不同,致使汉英委婉语在所指和能指方面存在很大差异,对这些差异进行认知分析,对促进英语教学和培养英语学习者的跨文化意识具有重要意义。
Being as an image of language and a manifestation of civilization, euphemism is the fundamental element to culture without which language acquisition can be impossible. Chinese and English euphemisms differ variously in their given and potential meanings because distinct divergences lie in the every aspect of the Eastern and Western traditional cultures, morals and values. Analyzing these divergences by means of cognitive psychology will be an incentive to significantly promote the teaching and nurture the English learner's cross-cultural sense.
