This paper briefly describes the recent development of ultra wide heavy steel plate rolling mill,and the technical upgrade of main and auxiliary equipment in order to satisfy the needs of new technology for controlled rolling and improve the rolling accuracy of steel plate.The tentative plan for building the first set of 5000mm ultra wide heavy steel plate rolling mill in China is put forward as well.
