A Lifetime Passion for Ethnic Minority Languages——An Interview with Professor Dai Qingxia,a World Authority in Tibeto-Burman Languages and Culture

民族语言研究,能促进民族交流,加深民族了解,增进民族感情,推动民族发展,是民族工作中的重要内容。凭着对民族语文的热爱,戴庆厦几十年如一日,立足语言本体勤勉治学,亲自调查并深入研究了20多种少数民族语言和方言,在民族语言研究尤其是藏缅语族语言研究方面影响巨大,其丰富的民族语言研究经验是一笔重要财富,对学术界有很大的启发意义。

Investigating and describing ethnic minority languages not only facilitates commu- nication and enhance mutual understanding between different ethnic groups,but also helps to promote cultural and economic development of ethnic minority areas. Therefore,it plays an im- portant role in the construction of a harmonious society. With his deep passion for ethnic mi- nority languages,Prof. Dai Qingxia has been working tirelessly on more than 20 Tibeto-Burman languages in southwest China and the surrounding regions for several decades,making a huge contribution to the field. His rich firsthand research experience and his tremendous achieve- ments are a treasure.
