A mild, efficient and general method for the synthesis of substituted quinolines via a molecular iodine - catalyzed one -pot domino reaction of imines with enolizable aldehydes has been described. The procedure offers several advantages including mild and metal - free reaction conditions, operational simplicity, inexpensive reagents and short reaction time.
