On Postgraduate Students' Critical Thinking and Research Creative Ability in Foreign Language Teaching——An Interview with Professor Steve J.Kulich at Shanghai International Studies University

本文系对现任上海外国语大学211特聘教授、上外跨文化研究中心执行主任、国际跨文化学院院士(IAIR)顾力行教授(Steve J.Kulich)的专访。文中以跨文化交际方向的研究生教育为案例,以研究生外语教育中如何才能培养研究生具有批判性思维和创新能力这一话题为主线,围绕研究生入学遴选标准、入学前阅读指导、开题报告如何撰写、研究问题如何提出、如何结合中国语境开展语言学和应用语言学相关课题研究、如何收集资料、研究方法拟定、如何与海外相关学系的教授与研究生开展交流合作、如何将学位论文改写成学术文章在核心刊物上发表、如何使研究生在学的研究呈可持续研究,以及如何守住学术道德底线等问题展开深入细致的讨论。文章对于我国研究生外语教学和研究生指导工作等具有可操作的现实意义和借鉴意义。

In this interview, the writer reported his conversation with Professor Steve J. Kulich, Director of the SISU Intercultural Institute （SII）, mainly focusing on the discussion of how to develop postgraduates＇ critical thinking and research creative ability. The discussion covered a range of topics, including postgraduate admission selection, literature reading instruction, proposal writing, research question raising, data collection, research approaches, communicative skills, journal paper writing and ethic issues. It is believed that Professor Kulich＇s insight and advice will help to illuminate our postgraduate curriculum innovation in foreign language teaching and instruction.
