It is pointed out that NC machining and MIM(material increase manufacturing) are two break through innovation achievements in the field of manufacturing technology in 20th century. Based on the analysis and review of the results mentioned, the innovation strategy for manufacturing technology is proposed, which can be described as follows: sustainable development offers innovation spaces and power, knowledge base is the innovation resources, digitization becomes the innovation method, visualization makes innovation form and structure virtually.
