The Textual Research on the Life Story of Gu Zigang and His Donation

顾子刚先生毕生从事图书馆工作,曾先后在清华学校图书馆、北平北海图书馆以及国立北平图书馆、北京图书馆任职。抗战时期,为维持北平图书馆在沦陷区的馆产、馆务发挥了重要作用;兼任大同书店经理,为西文图书采访和中外文献交流做出了重大贡献;多次捐赠珍贵古籍文献,既补充了馆藏又起到了模范作用。

Gu Zigang, the Associate Researcher and expert of the former Beijing Library, worked as a librarian all his life. He had been working successively in Tsinghua School Library, Peiping Beihai Library, and Peiping National Library, Beijing Library which was the predecessor of the National Library of China （ NLC ）. During the Anti-Japanese War, Gu Zigang played a big role in keeping the property of Peiping National Library after the fall of Peiping. He also worked as the manager of Datong Bookstore, contributing to the acquisition of western language books and Chinese and foreign literature exchange. In addition, he donated ancient books to NLC many times, which promoted the collection building of NLC and played an exemplary role to others.
