Fukuzawa Yukiehi, a famous Japanese educator, an important figure in ＂ Meiji Restora- tion＂, witnesses the transition and development of Japanese modern society, and promotes the changing and flying of Japanese educational thoughts. Through researching the story of Fukuzawa Yukichi, the paper ex- plores the connotation and forming process of his thoughts related to useful knowledge, advanced civilization, independence, etc. and then comprehensively evaluates his educational thought with enlightenment and its in- fluence to the future generations, and also puts forward some new understandings for Chinese traditional civili- zation and educational concept.
