高考一旦成为分配教育机会和社会机会的工具,它就不但不可避免地产生促使个体进入不同社会职业岗位、充当不同社会角色从而拥有不同社会地位并享有有差别的权力和义务的作用,而且使高层次教育成为获得权力、财富和身份的最为人们普遍认同的客观依据,并带有炫耀性意味。高等教育大众化则使高等教育逐步成为人们必要的生活准备,甚至是一种权利和义务,泛泛而谈的高等教育逐步不再具有卓越含义。大众化背景下的高考,不仅要关注卓越,也要关注学生与专业之间的合适性。

Once the college entrance examination works as a kind of mechanic to distribute educational opportunity and social opportunity, it will not only inevitably promote individuals to enter into different social occupations, to play different social roles, to have different social status and enjoy different rights and obligations of the role, but also make the higher education become a kind of tool to get power, wealth and status with a conspicuous means. In the procession of popularization of higher education, the higher education has become necessary preparation for life, even a kind of right and obligation. Higher education by itself gradually no longer means excellence. Under the background of mass higher education, we should make the college entrance examination not only pay attention tO excellence, but also to the suitability between students and professions.
