综观索洛古勃的创作,人与世界、自由与创造构成其作品的核心。人和世界是索洛古勃观照的基本对象,自由是作家所探索的人的本质特征,创造则是作品人物自由的集中体现,构成人和历史意义之所在。人作为存在的主体,受到来自几乎是整个外部世界的限制。人自身为了存在和发展,必须不断冲破种种限制。在长篇小说《编织的传说》中,索洛古勃揭示了人如何运用创造的意志建立一个完美的世界以实现最高的理念。在奋起反抗并否定虚伪的"现象世界"和沉沦生活的同时,索洛古勃预言了另一个理想的彼岸世界的存在。两个世界内涵的对照构成作家象征主义创作的典型特征。

Man and the world are the basic objects of Sologub＇ s investigation, freedom is the essential characteristic of the heroes in his works and creation is the concentrated expression of the freedom of the figures in the works. As the subject of existence, man is restricted almost by the whole outside world. To get development, man must continuously break all the restrictions. In the novel The Created Legend, Sologub reveals how man will build a perfect world through his own creation to realize the highest philosophy. While resisting and denying the hypocrisy of the ＂ phenomenal world＂ and the falling of life, Sologub predicted the existence of another ideal world on the other side. Comparison between the two worlds forms the typical characteristic of the writer＇s symbolist creation.
