Dr. Stopford, who retires this Spring after a twenty year career heading Clarksons Research and has been a director of this influential shipbroking company, can also look back to a distinguished earlier career in both shipbuilding and ship finance and he remains a much sought after teacher and lecturer. His book Maritime Economics is one of the great source books on this complex industry and genuinely is 'essential' reading for anyone trying to understand it. His lecture at the BIMCO Annual General Meeting was eagerly awaited and packed with interest and information.
