Conventional inhibitors of water cycle system have not only inhibition effects, but also corrosion inhibiting effect. However, inhibitors of reverse osmosis system are mainly used for scaleinhibition. The major reverse osmosis scale inhibition mechanism and classification is introduced. The development status and application of water quality of polyaspartic acid, poly epoxy suecinic acid, S-carboxyl ethyl thio suecinic acid, alkyl ethoxy carboxylate are also introduced. The development trend of reverse osmosis is predicted in the end.
