Objective To study the differences between genders in clinic and polysomnography in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome. Methods To compare the differences between genders in apnea hypopnea index(AHI),the lowest saturation of blood oxygen(LSpO_2),body mass index(BMI),and different degrees in AHI and the lowest saturation of blood oxygen,as well as the performance of the respiratory events in 201 patients with OSAHS.Result The mean age of male patients was 46.2±11.7 years, that was younger than that of female patients which was 55.4±7.9;the difference was considered significant. The average AHI of male patients was 37.8±25.8/h,that was higher than that of female patients which was 27.9±20.4/h;the difference was considered significant. The difference had no significance in the mean BMI and different degree in AHI and the lowest saturation of blood oxygen.Male patients mainly presented apnea, and female patients mainly presented hypopnea, the difference was considered significant. Conclusion Male patients are younger than the females, and the pathogenetic condition more severe, mainly in appearance of apnea.
