The paper suggests that population, natural resources and economic elements can be used as the basic criteria to classify the region types at the provincial level in China, and the resources possession per capita is the key index in this classification system. Based on the criteria, the paper reclassifies the region types of our country and proposes the comparative advantages of individual regions at provincial level.
