Objective: To probe into relationships between dressing change time and infection in peripherally inserted central catheter(PICC) puncture position in premature infants. Investigation of the relationships between time of change of dressing of the PICC puncture position and infection. Methods: A total of 60 premature infants who accepted PICC and nursing care in NICU from January in 2008 to September in 2010 were selected and divided into two groups. 30 premature infants who accepting PICC from January in 2008 to May in 2009 were changed dressing of the PICC puncture position every 3 days. Other 30 premature infants who accepting PICC from June in 2009 to September in 2010 were changed dressing of the PICC puncture position every 7 days. The infected conditions were compared between two groups. Results: There was no statistical significant difference in infected conditions of the PICC puncture position between these two groups (P 〉 0. 05). Conclusion: Under the premise of close assessment in PICC puncture site and the general condition of preterm infants, replacement of dressing every 3 d and 7 d doesn't affect the rate of infection of the puncture site.
