从翻译文学史角度看西方传教士与儒家经典外译

On Missionaries and the Translation of Chinese Confucian Classics from the Perspective of the History of Translated Literature

西方传教士翻译了大量儒家经典,传播了儒家文化,促进了中西文化交流。西方传教士的翻译选题动机是为了调和中西文化,将基督教根植于中国社会的肌体。代表译者主要有利玛窦、理雅各和卫礼贤等,主要译介成就是对"四书五经"的外译。传教士对儒家经典的译介与研究引起很大的反响,参与并影响了西方社会发展的进程,也深深影响了许多艺术家与学者。在译介儒家经典的过程中也出现了歪曲儒家经典原意的现象,对此学术界应有清醒的认识。

The western missionaries translated a lot of Chinese Confucian Classics, disseminating the Confucian culture and promoting cultural exchanges. Their translation motive is to coordinate Chinese and western cultures and spread Christianity in Chi- na. The representatives include Matteo Ricci, James Legge and Richard Wilhelm, and their achievements are embodied in the translation of ＂Four Books and Five Classics＂, which has exerted great influences on the Western society as well as many western artists and scholars. In their translation appear many phenomena of distorting the original meanings, as for which scholars should be sober.
