摘要
近代中国外语教育的源头是外国传教士在华开展的教会教育。在民国多元化的办学格局中,教会中学的外语教育取得了显著效果,称得上是一枝独秀。教会中学的师生构成、教学方法等呈现出与国立及其他私立中学所不同的特点。因此,研究民国外语教学状况,教会中学当是重要的考察对象。
Foreign language education in modern China has its roots in the missionary education. In the plural school-running pattern of the Republic of China,foreign language education of missionary middle schools topped any other form of education offered at that time. Such qualities as the make-up of the faculty and students, ways of teaching and so on differed from those of the government-run and other private middle schools. In studying foreign language education in the Republic of China, missionary middle schools are an important object of study.
